California's most quixotic winemaker has joined the behemoth. Elaine talks to both parties about an unusual marriage.

This article has taken months to write as it has involved several visits. During harvest 2021, Randall Grahm was in Napa giving a talk and a retrospective tasting of the wines he made at Bonny Doon before selling his famous wine business in early 2020. Afterwards we shared dinner and enjoyed the then-new first release from his brand-new project, The Language of Yes.
