Margaret River in Western Australia is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary as a wine region and I will very soon be on my rather circuitous way to celebrate with wine producers and wine lovers there. It has proved itself without a shadow of a doubt one of the world’s relatively few places where the Cabernet Sauvignon vine is truly at home, as evinced on this site as long ago as 2001 in this account of a Margaret River Cabernet 1998 tasting for example.
