The global glut of inexpensive wine and a notable improvement in bulk transport of wine is leading to all sorts of changes in the pattern of how wine moves around the world.

 
One of the best buys in my collection of 100 best wines from UK retailers to be published a week tomorrow, for example, is a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc shipped in bulk to Bingen in Germany and bottled there before being shipped to Britain.
