Record early flowering in northern Europe

Of course there is many a slip between flowering and harvest but at the moment the 2007 vintage in most of Europe’s classic wine regions looks on course to be one of the earliest ever.
 
Edouard Moueix reports that flowering on the right bank in Bordeaux took place from May 21, earlier than any year since…..1961. This was immediately followed by a cold front causing deep concern about the possibility of frost damage but so far this has not materialised and – surely – the risk must be low now that we are almost at Vinexpo (= heatwave) time...
