Resilient Maule

Young Shi visited the southern Chilean wine region recently and was bowled over.

After a nearly 30-hour flight from Shanghai that felt as though it would never end, I landed in Santiago. My final destination, the Maule Valley, was just five hours away: 3.5 hours for the drive on the Pan American highway and 1.5 hours stuck with the customs officers due to an apple I stupidly forgot to declare according to the strict quarantine policy in Chile. So if you have to bring in your favourite fruits or grape seeds, make sure they are carried in your stomach.
