Sauternes 2006 – truly extreme

I hate to agree with official statements, especially since so many of them put such a ridiculously positive spin on things, but I have to agree with the last line of the following summation of Bordeaux 2006 by the Comite Interprofessionel des Vins de Bordeaux (do enjoy reading between the following lines):
Although harvests for red wines and Sauternes were more complicated than in 2005, wine-making ran smoothly for all types and colours of wine.
As the grapes led us to hope, dry white wines are very aromatic, mineral and fruity, concentrated and stylish. They are perhaps superior to 2005...
