I was not at all sure about a book called Jumbo Shrimp anything. Tacked jumbo shrimp to the words 'guide', 'Italian' and 'wine', it seemed too odd, incongruous, and a little bit like a weird version of a rubber-tyre guide to restaurants. ‘Big things come in small packages’, writes Stevie Kim in her introduction. Is this as much self-description as a way of summing up the book?
