Pinot Grigio from Alsace and Shiraz from the Rhône


From Jean Meyer of the admirable Alsace house of JosMeyer comes news that Alsace officials are seriously considering allowing the use of the name Pinot Grigio on Alsace labels.

Meanwhile, the Rhone Valley wine producers have presumably approved a current radio ad campaign in the UK which explains that red Cotes du Rhone (I'm toiling away on a French keyboard so don't expect it to be able to do French accents at all easily) is made from Shiraz and Grenache.
