グラスゴー出身のスピリッツ専門家。1996年以降、Whisky Magazine、Whisky Advocate、Scotchwhisky.com で寄稿。著書に『The Way of Whisky』『The World Atlas of Whisky』『A Sense of Place』など14冊。映画『Cuba in a Bottle』『The Amber Light』の執筆・出演も手掛ける。
