In my specialised tastings in Gigondas and Vacqueyras I was surprised at how different the two were. Gigondas was the standout performer, with no shortage of excellent wines. The best showed superb purity of fruit and were packed with concentration. Most importantly they displayed a skilled lightness of touch in the cellar that helped create elegant wines respecting the high tannin potential in the grapes...
