Cabernet Gernischt
Name used in China for Carmenère. However, some studies have shown that certain plantings of Cabernet Gernischt in China may in fact be Cabernet Franc. It is thought that the name derives from a misspelling of ‘Cabernet gemischt’, the German for ‘mixed Cabernet’, which describes the mixture of European vine cuttings brought to China in the late 19th century.
