An old English cellar


We had a lovely invitation in March, to go and visit an old friend and try some wines from his grandfather's cellar. This great wine lover, now deceased and for long based in Paris, bought so much wine that it still fills four cellars under the sprawling family house in Sussex. 

Between a home-made cake and dinner we had a tour of them and they are a rather delightful contrast to the usual carefully designed, luxurious modern cellar. This is clearly a family collection without any computer programme, or anything much else, to keep track of each bottle. We had...
