A trip down memory lane with Cape Mentelle

An unusually deep vertical of an Australian classic.
I was last in Margaret River in 2017 for the 50th anniversary celebrations of Margaret River as a wine region. And, just three years later, the LVMH-owned winery Cape Mentelle celebrated its own 50th anniversary by releasing a very few collections of selected vintages of Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon, its most famous wine, going all the way back to 1983. I was lucky enough to taste each of the selected vintages (1983, 1992, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2016) and my enthusiastic notes are below.
