The notes below encompass a cross-section of styles and vintages within the range of family-owned Souith Australian Yalumba. Classic Barossa red is their forte, as illustrated here by the Cabernet Sauvignon- and Shiraz-based wines such as Signature and Octavius. The former represents an extremely well-priced option for fine Australian red to lay down because, as the 1966 vintage proved, these wines are built to last.

It was also very interesting to see the FDW7c Chardonnay, made from specially selected and newly imported clones that reach full ripeness with lower sugar levels than the traditional Chardonnay vines planted in Australia. This...
