5 Day Wine Tour of Burgundy: Meet the growers and taste the wines of the world’s most revered wine region

The Vino Beano is excited to announce its wine tour of Burgundy, arguably the most sought after wine region in the world. You will explore the limestone-rich landscapes that create the chiselled Chardonnays of Chablis, before heading south to the Côte d’Or, the core of the Burgundy region. Its beauty, history and quality were recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 2015. Here, you will learn about some of the vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin before passing by several of the world’s most famous Burgundy Grand Cru vineyards. From Savigny-lès-Beaune, in the northern Côte de Beaune, you will taste a number of different wines from the region that have been artisanally produced by a micro-négociant. We will visit the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the renowned and ancient centre for Cistercian monks who produced much of Burgundy’s wine during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The trip will continue in the southern Côte de Beaune, where we will discover the lesser known but equally delicious wines of Maranges over the final two days you will taste your way through Pouilly-Fuissé and Macon, the most famous areas of the Maconnais region, before finishing in two of the most revered Beaujolais crus; Fleurie and Morgon Côte de Py. Your guide for this trip will be Robin Kick, Master of Wine and one of only 360 MW’s in the world. Robin is a world-renowned Burgundy expert, first visiting the region in 1990 and being instantly captivated by its magic. She wrote her Master of Wine dissertation on wines of the Burgundy region. Over the years, Robin has made it a priority to continue to learn about Burgundian wine through formal education, tastings, as well as meeting and working with growers in the region. Robin worked for four years as a wine auction specialist for Christie’s in Beverly Hills, tasting her way through many wonderfully old and rare bottles, after which she spent seven years as the wine buyer for an award-winning specialist Burgundy wine merchant. With such a passion for the wines of the Burgundy region, Robin will be sharing her great knowledge and experiences with you on this most unique of wine trips. Robin is based in Lugano, Switzerland, the heart of the key European wine regions, and is a well-respected buyer, taster, competition judge and consultant in the wine industry. Robin spends her time developing relationships with growers and agents, finding hidden wine treasures and strategically bringing them to market. Robin’s knowledge, experience and palate is a key asset to The Vino Beano, and she has played a vital role in identifying the outstanding wines that The Vino Beano is now able to bring to you.
