From a cool and very rainy 2018 I returned to the hot and arid 2017 in the shape of the Riservas, due to be released on 1 January 2023. All things being relative nowadays due to climate change, it may well be that 2017’s reputation will soon be reappraised in the light of the even hotter and drier 2022. While I haven’t ignored the challenges of 2017, when I tasted the wines last year I found plenty that did not immediately reflect this hot vintage....
