Our regular monthly round-up from Richard in Singapore. This month constitutes a particularly rich mix of exotica and classics.
The wine that won my heart this month came from a brand I hadn't previously heard of: Domaine Carlei in the Yarra Valley. This label is an offshoot of Carlei Green Vineyards, who have several different ranges, and the Domaine Carlei appears to be a side project of David Carlei, son of the estate's founder. The 2012 vintage that I tasted had everything I love about Syrah, and is an early candidate for my wine of the year.
