No sooner had I reported on Professor Roger Corder's findings linking high altitude, tannic red wines with potential longevity than I am sent a bottle of a new wine from Private Liquor Brands of East Grinstead, Sussex called High Altitude Malbec Shiraz, a young red blend from Mendoza already on sale for £4.99 at Somerfield supermarkets. There's no vintage on the label and no particular altitude specified (unlike the labels of Moët's reliable Terrazas range or many of Catena's bottlings). Nor are we told how much of each variety is in the blend, though it is presumably from Bodegas...
