Ch Pichon Baron, Les Tourelles de Longueville 2021 Pauillac

15

66% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 12 months in barrel, 30% new. This always Merlot-dominant cuvée represents 26% of the estate’s production. Cask sample.
Sweet, polished nose. Bit of a sweet and sour concoction as there is no shortage of acidity on the palate. Really rather hard work – austere – on the finish with a sensation of wood shavings. I usually like this wine but not this year.
