The Hilt, Radian Vineyard Chardonnay 2019 Sta Rita Hills

16

Radian’s ridgelines are the steepest, reaching nearly 700 feet at its highest points. Outcrops of diatomaceous earth and rocky soils dominate Radian. The rocky soils at the top of Radian offer good drainage and heat retention, an aspect critical to the production of ripe fruit at high elevation with cold, whipping winds.
Bit of sulphur on the nose. Generous and fleshy, savoury characters. Enough acidity. A very different style with a gravelly texture on the palate. Hints of grapefruit. Quite understated and reserved, has potential to develop. (AWH)
