Newport Landot Noir 2018 Rhode Island

15.5

A cold-weather variety, Landot Noir is relatively uncommon in the United States though does well in its colder areas as well as in Quebec. At the University of Minnesota it was used as one half of the cross that created Frontenac, another cold-hardy variety. Aged in oak barrels.
A bit disjointed, though it gains more congruence with air. There is a lot of flavour but in a lighter-bodied wine, and the palate is mouth-watering and long. Flavours of tobacco leaf, as well as both red- and blackcurrants, and resinous forest notes carry through a long finish. (ECB)
