25% off Waitrose wine from tomorrow

10 July 2019 FWIW, as they say, Waitrose were crowned Wine Merchant of the Year 2019 at the International Wine Challenge awards ceremony in London last night. Furmint, madeira and sherry were all garlanded too, apparently.

9 July 2019 From tomorrow for a week Waitrose are offering 25% off all wine and champagne costing at least £5. Take advantage!

At least six mixed bottles have to be bought to take advantage of this offer, which is available on waitrosecellar.com or at waitrose.com with a grocery delivery (the usual £60 online grocery minimum spend applies). Their Click and Collect facility is available from waitrosecellar.com to Waitrose branches for £3.95, or free on orders over £100. Standard delivery in two to five working days is £5.95, or free on orders over £150. Delivery next day or on a named day is £8.95, or free on orders over £250. Excluded are any Scottish branches, motorway service stations, Welcome Break or petrol stations.

Waitrose was singled out for praise in our retail specialist Andy Howard MW's most recent survey of what the bigger UK retailers have to offer wine lovers at the moment. See the best buys he specifically identifies in his most recent assessment of the Waitrose wine range.

The only fly in the ointment is Waitrose's cavalier attitude to specific vintages. This has been much discussed in our Members' forum and there doesn't seem to be any solution – except visiting a store yourself and being sure of securing the vintage you are after. You'll need a strong bag though.
