The first rumours of an imminent sale of Biondi Santi emerged just before Vinitaly when on 9 April Il Sole 24 Ore, an Italian financial newspaper, reported that allegedly the Biondi Santi family had given a mandate to a prestigious, unnamed Roman law firm to put its feelers out for potential buyers of this historic estate. Apparently the law firm was instructed to look for offers based on tenders of €55 million initially, which allegedly soon exceeded €110 million. Potential buyers were rumoured to be LVHM and Prada.
