Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste may lack some of the cachet of the Pauillac superstars but its steady disposition, in terms of price and style, has endeared it to bordeaux drinkers over the years. An archetypal Pauillac with concentrated fruit, blackcurrant and graphite notes and a powerful tannic frame, it offers authenticity, consistency and longevity at a less exalted price than the top growths, although that price has risen over the last decade.
