Thierry Manoncourt of Ch Figeac in St-Émilion will be given the Légion d'Honneur at the château tomorrow. He will be made an Officier, which is apparently one up from a Chevalier. All of this is great and just as it should be. Except that he is 92 and has been running this great property for 60 years, so the French authorities are not exactly rushing into giving him the gong he so richly deserves. See my profile of him.
