The Gimblett Gravels, an 800-ha subzone defined by soil type within New Zealand's Hawke's Bay wine region on the east coast of the North Island, clearly has something going for it. You can read about a big blind comparison in London of its red blends with some of  Bordeaux's smartest reds in Gimblett Gravels v Bordeaux 2005 (no shortage of chutzpah among those brave New Zealanders!). See its admirably precise map below, and find out more at www.gimblettgravels.com, where a full-size map can be downloaded.
