The Riesling session of the Landmark Australia tutorial, presented by Jeffrey Grosset, underlined the importance of site to the expression of this variety, focusing on the Clare and Eden Valleys first and then on other areas of Australia producing high-quality Riesling – Henty in Victoria, Frankland River in Western Australia and Tasmania. However, there is considerable variation in climate and soils and therefore wine style even within the Clare Valley, Grosset's home territory.
