Languedoc whites – looking to the future

Not for the first time, I’ve come away from the Languedoc convinced that it’s the whites, more than the reds or the rosés, which are the most exciting wines being made in the region. And I am even more convinced than ever that it’s the Mediterranean varieties that are making the best whites. Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Rolle (aka Vermentino), and Grenache Gris, whether varietal or blended, are making some simply stunning wines with complexity and depth, even when the winemaking is straightforward....
