Party wines – a challenge

What do you serve large numbers of guests? The 38 wines below were submitted to a high-profile hostess who welcomes thousands of people to large receptions in her London home every year. They were served blind to a number of us professionals last October so that we could advise her on which to choose.

A number of the wines were served in those spherical Paris goblets rather than the tulip-shaped standard ISO tasting glasses (which nowadays seem so mean compared with more generously proportioned glasses). The Paris goblets did no favours to the wines whatsoever and it was a struggle...
