There are almost 30,000 tasting notes for varietal Chardonnays in our database, of which two-thirds are from Burgundy but only five bottles are from Bordeaux. That is hardly surprising, but what might have started as a niche appears to be gaining ground. There are at least five producers now making Chardonnay within the boundaries of the Bordeaux region, although they qualify only as lowly IGP Atlantique. The 2021 vintage of Fleur de Boüard has evidently improved on the earlier vintages in our database, although I was still surprised...
