Some sizzlingly good southern French whites

We all know that the far south of  France is a great source of hand-made, digestible, keenly-priced red wines, but what of the whites made in Languedoc-Roussillon and the southern Rhône valley? Even as recently as five years ago, far too many of them were flabby and/or over-oaked but things have been changing fast. White wines throughout the Rhône valley have improved enormously recently and now are much more likely to have both fruit and freshness.
