Spanish Wine Scholar - Online Course

The Spanish Wine Scholar™ education program is a Spanish wine course designed to provide committed students of wine with the most advanced and comprehensive specialisation study program on Spanish wine bar none. It has been created by Spanish wine specialist Rick Fisher the Spanish Wine Scholar Education Director. The Spanish Wine Scholar™ study program mirrors the unparalleled level of depth, accuracy, detail and academic rigor offered by the acclaimed French and Italian Wine Scholar™ programmes. Individuals who follow this in-depth curriculum and pass the exam earn the Spanish Wine Scholar title and the SWS post-nominal which may be incorporated into a professional signature (e.g. John Smith, SWS). Full details about the course and the optional, supplementary wine case are below. ONLINE Course Dates (All Thursday Evenings) - 7:00pm to 9:30pm:

• 9th July 2020: Green Spain (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco)
• 16th July 2020: Duero River Valley (Castilla y León)
• 23rd July 2020: La Rioja & Ebro River Valley (Navarra, Aragón)
• 30th July 2020: Cataluña
• 6th August 2020: Central Mediterranean Coast (Valencia, Murcia) & Meseta (Castill-La Mancha, Madrid, Extremadura)
• 13th August 2020: Andaluæia
• 20th August 2020: The Islands (Balearic/Canary Islands)
• 10th September: In-person exam*. Please note that if you are unable to sit the exam on this date, we are able to arrange another time for you to do this provided we receive at least 4 weeks advanced notice to the 10th September. If you would prefer to sit the exam online, this can be arranged however as this is managed directly by the Wine Scholar Guild, an additional exam fee will be payable for the online option.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER STUDYING THE SPANISH WINE SCHOLAR (SWS) COURSE?

• SWS is designed to test for proficiency in ALL the wines and wine regions of Spain.
• SWS is ideal for those currently studying or completed WSET Level 3 and Level 4 as an perfect supplement
• SWS is also ideal for those who hold an enthusiastic interest for the Spanish wine industry
• No previous experience of Wine Tasting is necessary to register on this course.

PLEASE NOTE: An optional, supplemental tasting case will be made available for students to purchase. The exam for this course is 100% Theory based however, so while tasting wines will enhance the experience it is not essential to purchase this case to complete this course.
