Sauvignon Blanc from ... Germany

I don't know about you but Sauvignon Blanc is not a grape variety I readily associate with Germany. It's not, after all, as though Germany is short of other grape varieties that offer direct fruit, marked acidity and a powerful aroma.  A certain R**sling, the country's most-planted grape, springs to mind, after all.
