Tom Stevenson is a wine writer who has specialised in all things fizzy. As I will explain on Saturday, he has started his very own wine competition for sparkling wines only, including champagne of course, and recently announced the winners, wines he modestly calls World Champions.
Some of the results are quite surprising. England produces the best vintage-dated rosé in the world, for instance. Pommery produced the best NV Brut. The world's finest vintage-dated blend is one made specially for Co-op supermarkets in the UK that retails for £24 a bottle.
