Kolonics Furmint 2019 Nagy-Somló

17

From volcanic soils in Somló. 100% Furmint harvested 4 October 2019, 6–12 hours’ skin contact, spontaneous fermentation in old 500-litre barrels, with malo. Aged for 11 months in 1,500-litre acacia barrels and bottled August 2021. RS 9.1 g/l, TA 8.3 g/l, pH 3.25, SO2 total 151 mg/l, SO2 free 33 mg/l.
Deep straw colour. I’m not surprised Matthew Horsley has chosen to show two wines from this producer. Rich dried-apricot flavours and excellent structure and acidity. Tastes dry despite the RS. Really firm and exciting. GV
