Wagner-Stempel, Binger Scharlachberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs 2020 Rheinhessen

17.5

Ambient-yeast fermented and raised in traditional 1,200-litre barrels of German oak.
And Scharlach makes three… the most recent addition to the Wagner-Stempel GG portfolio is a joint project of site-switching with Weingut Bischel from Appenheim. With a character that channels Rheingau more than neighbouring Nahe, the renowned Bingen site reveals a wild ride of savoury herbs, tropical citrus fruit and whispers of summer rose. Balanced acidity, rich texture, polished. The dry and polished palate swings between creamy precision and grippy spice. Long term, this revealed a velvety texture that really set it apart from the rest of the trio. (PS)
