Argentine producer Trapiche this week revealed that they are on the brink of planting experimental vineyards in Chapadmalal, a hitherto unplanted area several hours' flight east of the country’s established vineyard areas (pictured here, somewhat blearily). Chapadmalal is on the Atlantic coast near the resort of Mar del Plata, named after the River Plate, about 400 km south-east of Buenos Aires. The project has been three years in the making, and they are only now acknowledging it in public.
