Bordeaux 2003s – a progress report

These wines were tasted at the well organised Institute of Masters of Wine annual bordeaux tasting in London last month. I focused mainly on those wines that Jancis had not previously tasted in bottle. I was expecting to taste the fingerprint of the 2003 heatwave. Although many wines had rather dry tannins, especially on the finish, fewer wines than I expected were marked by overripe fruit. Quite a few in Pomerol seemed dominated by oak, perhaps...
