California – a new page?

Far too few British wine merchants take much interest in California. Many of them lost interest when exchange rates moved in the wrong direction and boom times in California moved the domestic price of the better wines skywards. But one advantage of the current strong pound is that the wines of California don't look quite as expensive as they used to – and two of the more enterprising London retailers, Roberson and The Sampler, have actually taken the trouble to go to California to sniff out some of the more interesting offerings...
