German wine guide – summer 2021

We have been publishing so many tasting notes on German wines recently (thank you, Michael) that a guide to them seems appropriate. Please note that there will be many more tasting articles to come on the Grosses Gewächs wines released this month. As usual, articles are listed in date order, most recently published at the top.

When you see pictures like the VDP one above of the Uhlen Blaufüsser Lay Grosse Lage in Winningen, you do wonder how on earth anyone manages to work Mosel vineyards. But Heymann-Löwenstein have produced some stunning 2020s from slopes like this, demonstrating that it's not just the most famous locations that can yield magic.
