Italy and value

A couple of weeks (or was it months?) ago I was forwarded a request from someone professionally close to me to write about ‘good-value Italian wines’. It is not the first time that I have received such a request, notably from Jancis, who has in the past urged me to write about Dolcetto and Barbera as good-value alternatives as well as Barolo and Barbaresco.
