Languedoc Night in pictures

A pictorial record of our very first French wine tasting event.

Last night the first-ever JancisRobinson.com Languedoc Night took place at our regular venue for self-pour tastings, Caravan King's Cross.

As usual, the evening began with note-taking. This time, the 53 wines were split between Tamlyn, Julia and Jancis. The glass that Julia is admiring here ...

... was one of the 144 brand new Jancis Robinson x Richard Brendon glasses that had been supplied for the evening.

The accompanying young- and old-wine decanters were on show.

As soon as the wines were all labelled appropriately ...

... and laid out on the tables, the rest of Team JR were keen to start tasting. Pictured left to right below are Emily Percival, Fran Bellometti and Andrew Morris, who keep our 170,000-strong tasting notes database up to the mark.

Soon, the first guests arrived and the tasting began in earnest.

As soon as the room was full ...

... Jancis said a few words, followed by Miren de Lorgeril, the first-ever female president of a Conseil Interprofessionnel generic wine body in France.

Meanwhile, Caravan's excellent chefs were busy preparing snackeroos ...

... and pizzas to line the stomachs of our enthusiastic tasters.

Our combined tasting notes to follow...

With many thanks to Tam for the wine selection, to the Languedoc's talented wine producers, and to Richard for managing to record the event in pictures as well as organising it virtually single-handed in a week when he also organised two faults workshops and marshalled 850 tasting notes on Rhône 2017s.
