Malbecs – Argentina's very own grape

I tasted the following 50+ Argentine Malbecs and blends dominated by Malbec recently in London. I did not taste them blind although many names were new to me and some of my favourites disappointed so I am fairly confident that little favouritism came into play.  Clearly there has been enormous recent investment in the eastern Andean foothills, especially but not exclusively from France. The results vary enormously.

I offer the following observations:

- Overall, Argentine Malbec can be much more satisfying than Malbec from anywhere else, notably Cahors.

- There is far too little correlation between quality...
