Around this time five years ago, I was sweating over the final stages of my MW dissertation, which was all about the distribution of Anjou-Saumur and Touraine wines into the UK market. In the discussion of the style of Cabernet Franc, I described some producers who 'defended a slight greenness as a badge of terroir' and quoted Andrew Jefford's lovely description of the wines as having 'edgy balance'.
