While Julia was concentrating on Western Australia freshness and finesse at the London Australia Day tasting, I meandered more randomly around the tasting tables, and ended up amassing notes on 43 assorted reds from across six states, including some rare sightings from Queensland.

One table presented a blind tasting of 16 Cabernet Sauvignons, showing good evidence of regionality – eucalyptus notes in Coonawarra, herbaceousness in Margaret River and jamminess in McLaren Vale. Which pleases my inner MW student no end.
