The best Red Mountain wines have the power and depth of Napa Cabernet, but with a freshness of acidity and a refinement of tannins that somehow make them a bit easier to drink, especially in their youth. The best also can feature wonderful garrigue-like herbal notes and hints of dusty earth, offering a savoury quality rarely found in California Cabernet.
