Scale model – Coriole v Rosemount

21,000,000 is a lot of litres. To illustrate such mammoth volumes the customary reference is Olympic-sized swimming pools, but that assumes we have a sound appreciation of exactly how big they really are. I confess that I don’t. So to clarify further, it’s common to quote the equivalent weight in African elephants. But now it only has meaningful resonance for Olympic front-crawl competing zoo-keepers.

I’m sceptical of all such metaphors. Instead, to illustrate the scale of Rosemount Estate’s McLaren Vale winery, I’ll compare it with Coriole. The largest in the region versus one of the smallest. No swimming pools, elephants...
