Southwold 2006s – white wines

After a day and half immersed in the 2006 reds, it was fun to plunge into the refreshing waters(?) of 2006 bordeaux whites. The dry whites were mainly Pessac-Léognans with the odd wine made by famous red-wine producers in the Médoc and St-Émilion entitled only to the Bordeaux appellation.  They turned out to be a very mixed bag with some wines, however expensive, that recalled a past era of white winemaking (heavy sulphur additions and a lack of fresh fruit). Unfortunately, both of the usually great white wines from the Haut-Brion stable seemed to be in a very surly stage...
