Visiting Beaujolais, and Burgundy

Image

Terroirs Originels, the group of independent Beaujolais vignerons whose current releases I reviewed in Beaujolais 2013 looking promising, have just launched a Route des Vins through the pretty, blue hills of the Beaujolais crus and the southern Mâconnais – complete with interactive map for route planning.

Along the way they promise the full co-operation of 11 wine farms to visit (nine in Beaujolais and two in the Mâconnais), 12 restaurants (with full details of style and opening times), seven places to stay ranging from bed and breakfast through gîtes to hotels, and three boutiques selling local produce.

Find out more about this new Beaujolais initiative here. The picture below is of Brouilly, but those who are more interested in travel in the Côte d'Or to the north of Beaujolais, Burgundy proper, may wish to look at this specialist website.
