What hail does to vines

Friday 7 August 2009 • 1 min read

Charles Lea of London wine merchants Lea & Sandeman sends these dramatic pictures of the effects of a catastrophic hailstorm last weekend in the Côtes de Provence vineyards of Domaine Sainte-Lucie, two of whose delightful rosés were reviewed in Tamlyn Currin's round-up of Provençal rosés on Monday.

As he says, enjoy the 2008s because it looks as though there will be very little, if any, wine made in 2009 from the Fabre family's vines on the lower flanks of the rocky, iconic Mont Saint-Victoire.
